Further Information

Who is it for?

The Level 3 CCI preparation course and exam bundle is ideal for bilingual/multilingual people who speak English and another language fluently and either:

  • are brand new to the profession but have excellent linguistic skills and want to become an interpreter.

  • already have existing interpreting experience (which can include voluntary work for charities or friends and family)

YOU DO NOT NEED ANY EXISTING QUALIFICATIONS TO TAKE THIS ONE.

What's in the preparation interpreter course?

The interpreter course takes place over 6/7 1-2 hr webinars which cover the following topics:

1.Working as an interpreter in public services

2.Preparing for interpreting assignments

3.Planning to work as a community interpreter in medical settings

4.Planning to work as a community interpreter in the welfare benefits system

5.Interpret two way

6.Perform a sight translation

7.CPD for interpreters

These online webinars are packed with information about interpreting profession, industry requirements, legislations, glossaries, language providers and more but most importantly provide numerous exercises that will help you practice your interpreting skills. They are designed so that you are completely ready for your exam, and for your life as a professional interpreter.

Although this course does have homework assignments, they are not mandatory so you will not have to spend time writing essays.

What's in the Exam tips, techniques and preparation course?

The course is a pre-recorded webinar lasting a total of 2.5hrs and is made up of 5 elements:

Part 1: What to expect during the exam

Part 2: The exam criteria

Part 3: Example revision process

Part 4: Key things to remember

PLUS an example video of a full Level 3 exam

What's in the Mock interpreting exam?

The mock interpreting exam is an exact replica of the Level 3 interpreting exam (see below), marled by one of our assessors and with full feedback.

Advantages of taking a mock exam:

– Being in a formal exam environment will prepare you for what it will be like on the day. This can help you to generate familiarity and reassurance.

– Provides an accurate reflection of your progress against the exam criteria

– Gives you valuable feedback that you can use to reinforce what you are doing well and highlight any development areas

– A good result in a mock exam can boost confidence and show how much progress you have made

What's in the Level 3 interpreting qualification exam?

  • There is no requirement to write long essays, simply tell us when you are ready and our qualified and skilled assessors will assess if you already have what it takes to become a community interpreter.

  • The exam takes place remotely, using videoconferencing software

- We invite you to take part in a role play assessment where you will interpret and provide a sight translation for a Limited English Speaker. You will have to act as professional and not only demonstrate your linguistic skills but also show that you are aware of the industry terminology and requirements.

  • Part 1: two way (consecutive) health interpreting role play - 25 mins

  • Part 2: sight translation health role play - 10 mins

Our qualification can be achieved quickly and smoothly from the comfort of your own home and this flexibility does not affect its quality. The qualification has been created by a team that has over 10 years of experience delivering online interpreting and language assessments and is strictly regulated by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) that regulates qualifications, examinations and assessments in England.

If you are not ready to take the exam yet, you can take our 'How to be an interpreter' preparation course that provides you with all the knowledge that you will require to build the skills and vocabulary necessary to pass the exam.
